Presentation descriptive summary: “Based on L. Rendón’s pedagogic wisdom on
inner creativity in the educational setting, it is time to transform the meaning of
leadership by becoming a sentipensante (sensing/thinking) steward to bring the
deepened understanding of holistic (wholeness) centered equity & justice to build
the liberatory relationship with the communities. This is the space where we can
begin to guide ourselves to understand how the inner work is necessary in

spaces (in small sized white normal font)”.

Organizational Level

When we feel and think of others, we respond to things with our hearts. To become a whole person, we need to listen more when people ask us to listen to their hearts whether it is healed or not healed. How do we begin to grow with people who want to change themselves to be truly free from being stuck in one place when serving the communities? Through the planting the seeds of growth, we will begin to learn how to take care of the communities together.

OR

Community Based Level

We are here to look into ourselves. Have questions? We work to figure out what leadership means by analyzing what is liberation to us and to the communities using equity and justice approach. Know that this space will let us to work to understand how to support anti-oppression in work or social spaces.

Ashanti M-T explains what the presentation is about in ASL.

Transcription (ASL <---> English):

00:02 Hello, I'm Ashanti

00:07 Monts-Treviska

00:14 I am planning to give

00:16 a presentation or training

00:17 on what?

00:19 (topic) It is time to become or to be a

00:26 Sentipensante Steward

00:35 The word, sentipensante

00:39 means thinking

00:42 feeling in Spanish (Espanol)

00:46 Who created that word?

00:50 A person named Laura Rendon

00:58 She wrote a book called Sentipensante Pedagogy

01:12 Pedagogy means teaching

01:19 I read her book

01:24 Keep in mind that she had many years of being an
educator

01:30 However, her view on education means what?

01:37 we have been internalizing

01:41 and reproducing whatever

01:48 was taught to us and project onto people

01:51 We continue to repeat it in cycles

01:55 The question is...

01:56 Is that normal?

01:59 or is that ok or acceptable?

02:06 This training will guide people to

02:09 understand what it means to become a steward

02:16 Right now, many people know what leader or leadership
means

02:24 Often they tend to believe that a person is front of
people to lead

02:27 The leadership of a person isn't always healthy

02:32 or isn't always about caring to meet the needs of the
communities

02:41 The word, steward means take care of,

02:47 value, nurture and grow the communities

02:50 like a gardener who plants the seeds to grow them

02:57 We need to make the time to pause

03:02 to think and feel what's happening within ourselves

03:06 and what's happening with people's hearts

03:14 Once we begin to go deeper within ourselves

03:16 to truly understand, to empathize and

03:18 to be compassionate,

03:20 we become more caring about nurturing

03:25 the communities and meet their needs

03:29 to grow and thrive collectively

03:38 The whole point is to seek and find the wholeness,

03:46 whole you,

03:47 and collective wholeness

03:52 I look forward to nurture your growth needs

03:58 through the training

04:01 See you soon
